About
So what is maximum-maximorum.com about?
Well the site was set up to disseminate information on training specifically for sport speed and all the other qualities associated with speed. Any sport that requires acceleration and speed as an important component will benefit from the information on this site.
Why the name maximum-maximorum?
In its simplest definition maximum-maximorum stands for the highest peak possible or the highest high.
So who is the person responsible for setting up maximum-maximorum.com?
Maximum-maximorum was setup by Martey Newman, teacher of technology by profession and a coach of Track and Field (100-400m). He is based in North London, England, United Kingdom.
Read below what Martey has to say about his motivations for setting up the site.
“I decided to set up this site because of my decade long interest in sports training methods. I have always been interested in all things to do with power training as a track sprinter. Always seeking better, efficient and worthwhile ways of training, I was particularly interested in the Eastern Bloc methods of sports training. At University I spent a lot of my spare time reading all that I could find on sprint and power training. I read copied and absorbed large amounts of information and have continued to do so, it’s an obsession. Eventually I applied much of the information to my own training. I progressed from an 11.5 sec’s to 10.7 sec’s over the 100m in approximately 6-7 months. After a long lay off from the sport of Athletics, (Track and Field) I came back with the intention of competing, well that was the plan before I was asked by other athletes to coach and advice on all aspects of training. Since that moment I have trained but increasingly become absorbed into coaching. So at present I have my own track group. I am responsible for a range of ages and abilities.
I have learnt much from the writings of Yuri Verkhoshansky, Vladimir M. Zatsiorsky, Carmelo Bosco, Mel Siff, Tudor Bompa, Charlie Francis, Carlo Vittori, Anatoly Bondarchuk and Michael Yessis, Gunter Tidow and Dietmar Schnidtbleicher. These academics, physiologists, coaches and researchers have influenced my thinking and understanding of power training for sports and in particular sprint training. In short I am standing on the shoulders of giants. Well, I feel that I am now in a position to share this information in an accessible style. Sharing information on the net is just an extension of my profession and calling, which is teaching and coaching. I am disappointed in the lack of real quality training information on the internet, there are exceptions to the rule, such as www.charliefrancis.com and www.verkhoshansky.com. There is information of a high quality, but it is in short supply and sometimes hard to access, understand and apply. Well, this is where maximum-maximorum comes into play. With this website I intend to publish useful information that is primarily targeted at the sprint events in Track and Field and team sports that require a large component of acceleration and speed. That’s not to say that other sports will not be covered, they will in special postings. Over the coming months (this will depending on your patronage, support and participation), expect to read about cutting edge sports research, comparisons, book and product reviews, nutritional information and a myriad of other topics. If you feel that you want to know about a specific subject area, then we will endeavour to supply the necessary information.
This site will try to cater for as many levels of sports participants. So please visit as often as you can as we hope to supply useful information on a weekly basis. If you have articles or information that you would like to publish, or want to suggest topics to be covered, then please feel free to make contact with your suggestions on the contacts page.”
